Description: NASA scientists have combined data from two satellites to measure the height of the Tonga volcanic eruption, which occurred on Jan. 15, 2022. Triangulating images from NOAA's GOES-17 and the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency’s Himawari-8, the team calculated that the plume rose to 58 kilometers (36 miles) at its highest point.
