Description: A protective respirator created by a Duke medical and engineering task force has turned a surgical helmet, which uses room air, into a powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR), that uses filtered air. The modified PAPR was created amid the COVID-19 pandemic to fill the personal protective equipment shortage.
